Catch up.
I really like having a blog, but as a SAHM I often feel like I don't have anything to talk/write about. But I feel like there is stuff I want to say. Here goes-
My husband and I and my best friend Re went down to NOLA to enjoy the sights, sounds, and festivities that are Mardi Gras! Even though it rained on Saturday, we got stuck in traffic with some horses, had an accident involving a pedi-cab, and had an "incident" with a barricade on Bourbon we still managed to have an AWESOME time!
Tuesday, Fat Tuesday, we brought my daughter down for the night. She had a BLAST! It was her first real Mardi Gras and I can definitely say it will not be her last. We got stand tickets outside our hotel so I felt more comfortable being able to contain her and keep an eye on her easier. She also had red beans and rice at Mother's and the next day we had beignets at Cafe Du Monde with Owen too!

Thanks for caring,
K

I saw a woman

 Thursday, January 26, 2012

I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror today and did not like what I saw.
I was in Target getting groceries and naturally Tay had to go potty. We went into the bathroom and Tay is wanting to be a big girl so I let her go into the stall by herself. As I am standing there waiting for her I caught a glimpse of my self in the mirror and I did not like what I saw.
I saw a very tired woman in her 30's with a baby on her hip.
I saw a woman who cannot seem to wrap her head around the fact that she is the role model for two young children.
I saw a woman who is insecure in her ability to be a good mother and good wife.
I saw a woman who is trying to take delight in the small things in her life.
I saw a woman who has been blessed with two healthy children, a loving husband, and a wonderful family.
I saw a woman who struggles on a daily basis to make everyone happy.
I saw a woman who needs a good night's sleep.
I saw a woman who needs to take better care of herself.
I saw a woman who needs to lighten up on herself.
I saw a woman who loves her children more than herself.
I saw a woman who is the best friend you will ever have.
I saw a woman who has a quick wit and a very sarcastic tongue.
I saw a woman who is in desperate need of a make over.
I saw a woman who has so much to give if she would just get out of her own way.
I saw me.

K

Dear So and So.....

 Thursday, January 19, 2012

Dear Baton Rouge drivers,
Traffic would move a lot faster if everyone would use their accelerator. Oh, and put down the phone.
Impatiently waiting,
K

Dear driver up in my trunk,
The closer you get, the slower I go. True story.
Back off,
K

Dear Son,
Not sure if it's restless leg syndrome or what but enough with the kicking while trying to go to sleep.
Your bruised mama,
K

Dear Tay,
Thank you for a GREAT afternoon! I really appreciate you curbing the whining!
Pleased as punch,
Mommy

Dear American politicians,
Stop! You are suppose to be helping the very people who voted your asses into office, not bickering amongst yourselves.
Please reconsider the pipeline,
K

Dear Hubby,
Love you!
Me

Go here visit Kat and check out some more letters.

Thanks for caring,
K

~Just before the New Year we finally sold our house!! It could not have come at a better time.
~My wonderful husband gave me a girls night out with my best friend in New Orleans with tickets to see the SAINTS play on Monday Night Football! It was so awesome that I still felt it 2days later!
~Taylor is getting comfortable with the idea of being a big sister. Sometimes she just LOVES her baby brother too much!
~I have been a SAHM for over a year now and it is the hardest j.o.b. I have ever had!
~I am not sure that I am doing a great job but I am doing the best I can.

Dear So and so......

 Friday, July 22, 2011

Dear Carty kids,
I promise you won't miss anything if you close your eyes and go to sleep.
Thanks,
Your very tired mama.

Dear Owen,
How is it possible that a 5 month old can produce so much drool?
Love,
Your soaking wet mama.

Dear Owen's teeth,
Just break through already!
Signed,
current investor in Ora-jel.

Dear Ora-jel Naturals,
Thank you.
Sincerely,
A very satisfied customer.

Dear neighbor,
Bet you didn't know that it was me that called the courtesy officer when you went off on your child like that last night? If I have to turn up music so my own children can't hear you through the walls maybe you should take a step back and count to 10. If it happens again I will call the police instead.
Signed,
A concerned mama.

Dear everyone,
Please pray for this sweet baby and his family.

Go here.
Signed,
Just another mother.

Epic Fail

 Tuesday, June 28, 2011

So the sale on our house fell through. Not even going to pretend like I am okay, because I am not! I needed this in the worst possible way. I needed it so my family and I could actually have all of our belongings under one roof. Not part here at this apartment, part at my sister's from when we lived there, part still at our house and the rest in a storage unit!
I want to be able to settle in and establish a home for my kids and my husband. I want to be able to entertain in our home. I want a social life again.
Now we are back to square one. Ugh!
Here are the kids!

Mommy Moment

 Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Do you ever have a moment when something happens and you look outside yourself and realize "damn, I really am a mom/dad." I had one of those moments the other night. Let me set the scene-
One night last week I was trying to get the kids to bed when O decided he was not tired and did not feel that he needed to sleep. So of course I am trying to coax him into sleep while simultanously getting Tay to sleep which was not working.
I took O to the bathroom to get him to sleep. (he loves the sound of running water- so I kick on the fan and turn on the faucet- usually works like a charm.) So as I'm working on O Tay decided that she did not need to be in her bed any longer so she comes to join the party in the bathroom. As we are trying to remain quiet so O would go to sleep Tay starts to entertain herself by trying on my jewelry.
She puts on every piece that I had on my vanity. Long necklaces, short necklaces, rings, and even my watch. As I am watching her do this it hits me that I use to do the exact same thing with my mom's jewelry!
At that moment I had an outer body experience and saw myself as my daughter sees me. I got a glimpse of just how much I mean to her and how much she looks up to me and it scared me. It scared me because in that moment I realized just how much she depends on me and how I hold the keys to her happiness. Let's just hope I don't mess her up to bad!

Thanks for caring,
K
